Today we are pleased to feature Jen Marie Wiggins' debut suspense novel, The Good Bride! It sounds intriguing and the cover gives us chills. Melissa recently won a copy on Instagram and is excited to add it to her five-book pile soon. Thanks to BookSparks, we have FIVE copies to give away!
One year after a devastating hurricane, bride-to-be Ruth Bancroft is marrying her perfect groom in a quaint fishing village on the Gulf Coast. The weekend is carefully curated, with the displays of pomp and social media magic meant to promote an area still struggling to rebuild as well as bring Ruth’s estranged family back together.
Yet as good intentions often go, this road to wed is hell and paved in complications. With tensions rising between the family and the bridal party, long-buried secrets come to light, and accusations start flying. Things officially spiral out of control when the oceanfront rehearsal dinner is rocked by a series of gunshots, and a high-profile guest goes missing. As the investigation gets underway, it turns out that everyone has something to hide.
Big Little Lies meets The Guest List in this gripping page turner that asks the big questions about messy family liaisons, modern media, and the lies we tell the world. (Synopsis courtesy of Amazon.)

My cousin's wedding reception was all outside and it rained. Poured, not drizzled. They could have let it ruin everything (I know some people who, years later, feel that way about their weddings. They think it ruined the marriage too...). Instead everyone (who was physically able) danced in the rain. A lot of the men, started by the groom, were sliding across the dance floor on their bellies - in their tuxes! There was enough standing water to use it like a slip 'n slide.
It's a fantastic memory! Far more memorable than if everything had gone as planned. I understand that sometimes people have very specific desires and spent a lot of money, but if you can't control something it can be really great if you're able to lean into it (not everything, but it's usually worth trying).
A wedding that was wonderful was filled with joy and happiness. Fantastic music, food and memorable but we ended up paying for the entire wedding. Surprise for us.
I've gotten too drunk at a party.
Most wedding I have gone to seem to be rained upon. Not great for any outdoor weddings.
The last wedding I went to was served buffet style. By the time the last five tables were called to serve themselves, there was barely any food left. In addition, none of the dishes were labeled and the servers were not aware of the dish ingredients. Not enough slices of wedding cake for each guest to have a slice.
At the last wedding I was at on the way back to the hotel in the limo one of the guys decided to crank up the music so loud we couldn't hear each other talk.
I was a bridesmaid at my cousin's wedding and our wedding cars didn't show up. We waited and waited and waited and then tried to call the wedding car company but couldn't get through. After calling them several times, someone finally answered the phone and sent some cars on their way... then one of the cars broke down on the way! We were over 45 minutes late for the wedding and the poor groom and guests thought we were never going to show up!
Those wedding dresses with all those buttons that only someone else can button you into...make sure they start off with the right buttons.

At my wedding I was so nervous that I couldn't remember the vows and laughed through the whole thing.
I went to a lovely wedding where all the couples seemed to be mad at each other. Sure put a damper on the festivities!
The bride never showed up
People drinking too much and puking at a wedding
Embarrassing moment at a party hosted by my boss. Music was digital and the same song seemed to repeat over and over. I made a comment to a friend to the effect that either the host had no taste or no money to provide a variety of music. Host was standing right behind me!
The bride tripped over her wedding dress.
At one of my friend's party, the mic just decided to give up snd muted itself!
At a high school party someone puked in my shoes.
