Today we are celebrating the publication of Leah Mercer's latest novel, Why She Left. Thanks to Leah, we have TWO copies to give away!
Fifteen years ago, her daughter vanished. Now, she’s back.
Ruth has spent every day of the last fifteen years grieving for her daughter Isobel who left the family home as a teenager and completely disappeared. Walking around the school to which she has given her life, every child she sees reminds her of her daughter’s bright future and of a happy family destroyed in an instant
So when Ruth opens the door to find Isobel and a grandson she never knew existed, she feels a rush of joy. Isobel tells her that they need a safe place to stay whilst she gets back on her feet. Having lost her daughter once, Ruth is determined to keep her family together and enrolls her grandson at the school, in the hope that they stay for good.
But as mother and daughter begin to heal the wounds of the past, a violent attack brings old secrets to the surface once more. It is clear that someone is prepared to destroy everything Ruth holds dear. Can Isobel confront her darkest secret before it is too late?
An absolutely unputdownable and emotional page-turner about devastating family secrets and the ties that bind. Perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty, Jodi Picoult and Imogen Clark. (Synopsis courtesy of Amazon.)

My mother and I have a complicated relationship. At times there is a rivalry but other times it’s a very loving relationship.
My favorite movie about a mother and her daughter(s) is Little Women.

My mother and I were always very close. We lost her 8 years ago and I miss her every day.
My Mother passed away 3 years ago. I miss her so much! She actually lived with us for 20 years before she passed. It is really hard.
My Mother was very loving and giving. She always wanted the best for us and if she thought we were on the wrong path, she would let us know.
One favorite movie is The Joy Luck Club
We are a close knit family.
My mother is gone now but we had a good relationship, with its ups and downs. Same for my relationships with my daughters.
My mother has been gone for 7 years now. But she was a smart lady who never butted into my adult life.
Terms of Endearment is my favorite movie for mother-daughter relationships.
When I lost my mom at the end of 2019, I also lost a dear friend & a true sister too.
Made a bit of mistake mixing my comments up. LOL. My mother and I didn't have the greatest relationship as puberty and menopause did not mix well at all. She had a different kid of relationship with each of her kids and she always stressed how she felt sorry for "the baby" which made my siblings' eyes roll.
My favorite movie about a mother and daughter is Carrie 😲
freaky Friday
My mother and I had a great relationship. Sadly she has passed so many daysI feel like I’ve lost my best friend.
My mother and I had a good relationship.
My mother passed away when I was 15 years old, and that was about 40 years ago. During our 15-year bonding and togetherness, she always loved and cared about me, even though she didn't say it much verbally. .I miss her dearly.
My mother and I had a very close relationship before she passed away at 89 . It's been over 10 years and I still miss her and wish she was here.
