Jenny Colgan is a household name when it comes to chick lit. We invite you to check out her recently published novel, Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend. (And now we have that song in our heads.) Thanks to William Morrow, we have THREE copies for some lucky readers!
Sophie Chesterton is London’s “It Girl”. She knows all the right people, goes to all the right parties, and wears all the right clothes…and her rich parents pay for everything. But deep down she suspects that her best “friends”—and her posh lifestyle--are nothing but shallow fakes. Then one evening Sophie’s life takes a shocking, drastic turn, and her father decides it’s high time for the party girl to make her own way in the world.
Forced to earn a meager living as a lowly assistant to a “glamour” photographer, live in a shabby flat with four smelly boys, and eat baked beans from the can—Sophie is desperate to get her old life back, at any cost. But does a girl really need diamonds to be happy?
Full of warmth and sparkle, Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend is a surprisingly winning tale about luxury, life lessons, and the surprisingly low cost of true happiness.
Jenny Colgan is the New York Times bestselling author of numerous novels, including The Bookshop on the Corner, Little Beach Street Bakery, and Christmas at the Cupcake Café. Jenny is married with three children and lives in London and Scotland.

In my life, there are two specific times to me which represent me hitting rock bottom. The first, was when I was 17-years-old and a senior in high school. I'd run myself ragged, pushed my mind and body to the limit and ultimately had enough. I'd "checked out" and was in need of support and intervention. Thanks to those around me who cared, I was given the tools I needed to heal myself. Again, three years later, at 20-years-old, I found myself in a very similar situation and thanks to the urging and care of those around me, I was once again able to summon the courage and bravery to begin to heal.
ReplyDeleteSounds like this will be an inspiring book about learning who your true friends are and how material things are not impoetyant.
ReplyDeleteEscaping an abusive, threatening & drug addicted spouse with a 4 year-old & a newborn. It was extremely difficult to get free from his clutches but I made it. No regrets.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have hit rock bottom and it’s made me a better person. I left my abusive husband with nothing but the clothes on my back after 24 years of marriage. Today I’m well educated, retired from a state university public law school and am a strong, independent woman and am proud of myself. I’m even friends with my ex-husband which is something I worked very hard for the sake of my son.
ReplyDeleteI have hot rock bottom recently when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I overcame the disease and then was diagnosed with RA. This lead to more difficulties and suffering but I managed to succeed and am stronger.
ReplyDeleteWhen my son passed away from cancer I hit rock bottom. It has gotten better but life will never be the same.
ReplyDeleteI was married at 24, we had our son when I was 28, my husband had Type 1 Diabetes and went thru alot of issues related to that, at the age of 46 I lost him to Diabetes complications. After two years I met someone we got married and I was over the moon happy for 20 years then he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer and he passed away a little over three years ago and that was my breaking point. I never thought in my life time I would lose two husbands so I vowed to myself I was never get married again because I can't go thru it again. Thanks for your great generosity.
ReplyDeleteWhen my marriage broke up.
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband and I separated.
ReplyDeleteToo personal to say, but yes I have been there.
ReplyDeleteWhen I left the comfort of a well-paying job to work as a volunteer in another country...enjoyed it immensely and learned so much about myself. Now I am working on the leap to law school.
ReplyDeleteWalking 3 miles to work because I couldn't pay the bus fare, eating saltines and water for lunch at work because they were free and making instant pudding with powdered milk because that was all that was in the cupboard. (it was terrible)
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband was diagnosed with cancer- thankfully he recovered after surgery but it was a tough road for both of us. Thanks for the giveaway. Stay safe and healthy. 💕📚😷📚💕
ReplyDeletecan't think of anything
ReplyDeleteI tried to write it here but it's just too personal. Suffice to say I've definitely hit rock bottom. And I've climbed back up to the top.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love all things Jenny Colgan!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lost my husband of forty-four years.
ReplyDeleteSuffering from panic attacks that totally disabled me. I couldn't leave the house without having one. So thankful I eventually got better.
