Her book about the founder of Mattel, Ruth Handler, is being made into a major motion picture by Reese Witherspoon and Bold Films: Barbie and Ruth: The Story of the World’s Most Famous Doll and the Woman Who Created Her (Harper/Collins).

My favorite Barbie was Malibu Barbie
"Share a favorite memory about Barbie." Circa age 7 or 8, when I went to visit the house of a girl who was one of my best friends, she had a Barbie Dream House. It might have been a Malibu Barbie Dream House, I dunno. It was so cool! I always hated G.I. Joes--that whole militaristic crap--but maybe there should have been a G.I. Joe Dream House, with a hot tub, et al.!
I was and will always be a Barbie doll fan. She’s changed a lot over the years, but she is still every girl’s dream to own a Barbie doll. Thank you for the chance.

I never did own any Barbie's at all but visited a friend who had many. back when I was young my parents were not able to purchase extravagant gifts.
Don`t recall having a favorite Barbie, just loved playing w/my Barbie dolls. I enjoyed collecting the Holiday Barbie`s.
I was such a Barbie girl. My first Barbie was a brunette with a flip. My second Barbie was the Town & Country with a blonde flip.

Gosh, I played with them for a while anyway. But not long until I went back to what I loved to do best back then...play outside. Don't know what their names were because they were second-hand toys. Didn't care either that they weren't new because they came in a big bundle with a ton of outfits.
I didn't have a Barbie when I was growing up because my family didn't have the money for them. I had the knock off version. So, I started collecting them about 25 years ago. I have over 50 in my collection. My most recent purchase was the Day of the Dead one. My favorite is Medusa. My favorite memory of Barbies would be when my husband had a friend over helping him replace the tiles on the shower wall and he walked in the bedroom and saw my collection and told my husband "nice doll collection" and then laughed.
