Before she knows it, she’s an online wedding planner. It’s not mousse and macarons, but it pays the bills. But with the arrival of unexpected personal and professional twists, Sophie wonders if she’s really moving forward—or starting over from scratch...


Stacey Ballis is the author of nine foodie novels: Inappropriate Men, Sleeping Over, Room for Improvement, The Spinster Sisters, Good Enough to Eat, Off the Menu, Out to Lunch, Recipe for Disaster, and Wedding Girl. She is a contributing author to three nonfiction anthologies: Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys, Everything I Needed to Know About Being a Girl I Learned from Judy Blume, and Living Jewishly. She was an educator for more than fifteen years in Chicago, including teaching high school English in the Chicago Public Schools and serving as director of education and community programs for Goodman Theatre for seven seasons, before pursuing a full-time career in writing and consulting.

  1. I have never been to any weddings that served any kind of meal. They all just served cake. I like cake, and if I have to pick the best cake, I would pick the one at my own wedding.

  2. My cousin got married in January 2014, and for food they had some awesomely unique foods. They are both vegetarians so it was lots of foods I wasn't familiar with. They had a spicy black be an burger that was SO good. I still daydream about it lol!

  6. I never end up liking most of the actual food, but I was at a wedding with a mini-dessert bar with mini-cocktails to match, and they were wonderful!

  10. I'm not sure what it was called but it was asparagus with a sauce wrapped in puff pastry...OMG!!! IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

  14. Wedding cake is the vital part of any wedding as it spreads the sweetness. But, the looks and design of cake also becomes very important as it is the biggest day of life for the couple. These are some very beautiful cake designs and I am in love with these.
