Years ago, Natalie Love found herself nearly betrothed to her childhood sweetheart, Jamie. Sure, he was gorgeous, sweet, charming. The stuff romance novels are made of. But they were fresh out of high school, and Natalie wanted more. Settling down in the country wasn’t her idea of a life, so she made a tough decision. Call off the wedding, and walk away from the man she had always figured would be the love of her life.
Fifteen years later, Natalie has it all. A successful theater in Soho, great friends, supportive family (for the most part). Her parents are always getting on her to find a man and settle down. Even when she’s found a beautiful yoga instructor boyfriend, her family can’t take the relationship seriously. Probably because Natalie isn’t feeling the connection, either. With everything she has, she can’t help feeling as though it’s mostly surface and that there's something substantially missing.
When the theater across the street from Natalie's re-opens with Jamie as it’s owner, Natalie finds herself thrust back into early adulthood, with feelings she’s tried hard to bury resurfacing at full force. Not that it matters. Jamie is involved with his headliner, a burlesque dancer who has all the right curves and oozes sex appeal. Natalie is no competition, and besides, she’s got her yoga man, right?
There’s constant rivalry between the two theaters, each trying to one-up the other, like a fly by sandwich toss followed up by an attack of pigeons, parlaying into advertisement sabotage that focuses on Natalie’s own theater headliner ( a sexy young actor with killer six pack abs). Are Natalie and Jamie taking out their frustrations from years past on one another? Will these two ever be able to get past it and coexist amicably, or will there always be unfinished business?
I had a great time reading Miss Wrong and Mr. Right. There was never-ending comedy and a lot of crazy shenanigans throughout the entire story. Just when you think the dust would settle a bit, feathers get ruffled and chaos ensues! I’d have to say this is one of the most unconventional love stories out there, and the most fun.
