Synopsis:

When I was about 9 y/o I ran in a 3 legged race with another little girl whom I didn't even know. WE WON!
We tried to go camping one year. I don't know what my husband was thinking. He was more experienced than I was. Things just needed more planning. Our cooler started to leak, our camping stove broke, and our camping tent had a hole. We ended up cutting the trip short and headed home the next day. That was 8 years ago. We never tried camping again.
A memorable road trip was when we drove to Colorado and NM, visited Aspen, Leadville, Silver City and were enthralled with the beauty, history and setting. Luckily we had great weather and this was before my breast cancer diagnosis. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com
When my son was young (about 12), I took him for a road trip from San Diego where we lived up the coast to San Francisco, stopping at Solvang, Hearst Castle, Monterey, Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, Sacramento, Sutter's Fort (which he was studying about in school). He still talks about that trip.
Memorable trip would be our road trip to Salt Lake City for the winter Olympics.
Most memorable trip for me was when my family took a road trip from Ohio to Wisconsin, up into Canada, to Niagara Falls and back home! we had a good time and the Falls were magnificent.
I've gone on so many fun roadtrips with my ever-traveling daughter!
Memorable trip the summer after college graduation...my best friend and I decided to drive to the beach for the weekend. The drive was wonderful and full of interesting road stops. We arrived at the beach and planned to stay at a hotel right on the beach...however several of the hotels were full...so we ended up in this old hotel sharing a full size bed that felt like a twin bed with the bathroom in the same room!! Fortunately, we spent all our waking hours at the beach!
I don't like road trips. I never do good in a car. So all are memorable in one way or another (but not in good ways). From the days when I was young and we took trips from Texas to New York to visit relatives and I was car sick most of the time to the last trip me and my husband took where we fought the entire time. Not good memories.
So many memorable road trips! Last year about this time, my best friend and I drove to Nashville from St. Louis and had a fantastic time!

I once drove the East coast to Florida with my best friend. We had the BEST time!
don't take road trips
We take wonderful road trips with our daughter and her family. Our son-in-law does all the driving and Bop and I sit back, love one the grands and enjoy the ride.
In 2009, my grandparents, daughter, and I took a road trip through South Dakota for 8 days. It was so much fun to spend time with family and just travel. We didn't have any set plans, just goals that we wanted to meet. We stopped in Murdo (where we used to have family farm land), Wall Drug, Mount Rushmore, Sturgis (week before the BIG rally), Custer National Park, Badlands, Bear Country, Old Macdonald's Farm, Crazy Horse Memorial, Corn Palace in Mitchell, and checked out the flooding at Gavins Point Dam to name a few of our destinations. I am so glad that my daughter got to experience this time with my grandparents as we are only getting older and I will cherish these memories forever!
Driving with my granddaughter from Florida to Iowa two summers in a row. Trips for family illnesses but we had a great time traveling.
I have never had the opportunity to travel and that is one reason I enjoy reading: I can live vicariously through other people's words!

When I was about 6 my parents took us on road trip through Texas... we went to San Antonio (my brother fell in to the river along the river walk after being told several times to not walk so close) Sea World in SA...where I got to touch a dolphin on stage and tell them what it felt like...Dallas/Ft Worth.. Galveston where my dad try to scare us as we approached the ocean by singing the JAWS theme song... Good Times!

Memorable trip I dont want to do again....Hot Springs Arkansas on a stomach virus! Dont want to spend vacay in a hotel room again with a stomach virus and unable to travel back home until symptoms eased up! Couldnt get out or eat without problems! We looked so forward to going and it was just awful! Went again that Fall to make up for the lost trip and it was amazing with all the fall leaf colors! Lots cooler and just a wonderful trip! Used to drive with my two young children to Virginia from New Jersey after an 8 hour shift in the middle of the night......made for some interesting driving!
My husband was in the Army and we were stationed in Okinawa. He bought a Datsun and we were able to travel all over the island and partake in many of the island's beautiful traditions and landmarks. It was the trip/ year of a lifetime.
Oh the road trips.... I used to drive from PA to MD almost every weekend. The most memorable had to be the scary one when I fell asleep driving. I was alone. I wasn't hurt and I didn't wreck but I came close.
My husband and I and our daughters took a road trip to Canada--Victoria, B.C. . We drove from Sacramento, CA to the tip of Washington and took the ferry over to Victoria, B.C. and drove to the house where we stayed. We walked most of the time. Very enjoyable trip.

Most memorable road trip was family trip from Virginia to Florida in a big van with a cot strapped in the back. I rode in style!
