What could be in YOUR mail:
On Grace by Susie Orman Schnall, which was featured on our Book Shelf this week. Susie has THREE copies for some lucky readers in the US and/or Canada!
Grace May is truly excited about turning 40 in a few months. And now that her boys are both in school and she has a stimulating new writing job, the next chapter in her life can finally begin. She can't wait to rediscover the intelligent and interesting woman deeply buried under the layers of mother and wife.
But when Grace loses her job and gets unexpected news from her husband and her best friend, life suddenly gets complicated. Grace stands to lose everything: her marriage, her best friend, and her sense of self. But by her 40th birthday party, Grace will realize who and what matter most. With laughter. With tears. With grace.
ON GRACE embraces themes that will resonate with every woman who owns at least one pair of Spanx: fidelity, friendship, and finding oneself at 40. It's soulful and sweet, sexy and sad, straight up and smart, and, ultimately, quite satisfying. The story's relatable authenticity definitely connects with readers.
TESTIMONIALS:

I get to start a new chapter about every 4 or so years as we move, first with the military, now with the church. I won't say I reinvent myself each time, but I've had several differnt types of jobs - bank, insurance, secretary, bookkeeping. And now it's time for another chapter -- don't yet know what it'll turn out to be.

My "new" chapter is no longer new but it occurred when I was no longer able to work. It was initially hard to not work after spending my entire adult life working as an RN but when you can no longer lift or do repetitive arm work that kind of rules out most jobs and I came to a screeching halt. Now, it is normal for me. But, I still have the occasional work dream.
ReplyDeleteI am right on the verge of finishing one chapter, being my mother's full-time caregiver, and starting the next, returning to work(maybe?).
ReplyDeleteOn Grace sounds like a book I could really relate to as I am also on the verge of 40...dun..dun..dun Definitely on the "to read list"
Thanks for the giveaway!

I've started several new chapters in my life so far, each time it resulted in my taking a trip alone someplace new or picking up and moving across country and starting fresh. I tend to write about these things in my own books. One thing that always plays out is...you wind up exactly where you're supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteI will begin a new chapter in my life as my youngest will be turning 18 this week, we will be moving, and he will be starting college...

I grew up in Virginia and when I was a little girl and found out that there was a place in the U.S. that didn’t have winter, I swore to live there one day. So, when we retired, we moved to Florida and began the happiest chapter of our lives. I love it here! I enjoy fabulous weather year round and can read books all day if I want and chick lit is my favorite. Life just doesn’t get any better than that.
