I get to start a new chapter about every 4 or so years as we move, first with the military, now with the church. I won't say I reinvent myself each time, but I've had several differnt types of jobs - bank, insurance, secretary, bookkeeping. And now it's time for another chapter -- don't yet know what it'll turn out to be.

My "new" chapter is no longer new but it occurred when I was no longer able to work. It was initially hard to not work after spending my entire adult life working as an RN but when you can no longer lift or do repetitive arm work that kind of rules out most jobs and I came to a screeching halt. Now, it is normal for me. But, I still have the occasional work dream.

I've started several new chapters in my life so far, each time it resulted in my taking a trip alone someplace new or picking up and moving across country and starting fresh. I tend to write about these things in my own books. One thing that always plays out is...you wind up exactly where you're supposed to be.

I grew up in Virginia and when I was a little girl and found out that there was a place in the U.S. that didn’t have winter, I swore to live there one day. So, when we retired, we moved to Florida and began the happiest chapter of our lives. I love it here! I enjoy fabulous weather year round and can read books all day if I want and chick lit is my favorite. Life just doesn’t get any better than that.

ReplyDeleteThis may sound cheesy... after my Father In Laws sudden death...I started to live each day with a more positive outlook & attitude (not that I was a downer before but..) Really letting go of all the small stuff that I let bother me, trying to repair a relationship with a sister in law.
