Nicky Wells investigates matters of the heart...plus a book giveaway

Introduction and interview by Tracey Meyers

**Giveaway is now closed**

In the short time I've gotten to know Nicky Wells, I've come to learn that she embodies the qualities of her characters.

"Fun and contemporary romance featuring a rock star and the girl next door."

That is a blurb from a bio I received on Nicky.  And even though I've had limited interaction with her, I can totally see her as the "girl next door" AND the "rock star" which just makes me want to tune-in to learn more about her.

After leaving her full-time job as a researcher and project manager for an international Human Resources research firm in 2004, she completed her first of The Rock Star Trilogy, "Sophie's Turn" (reviewed here).  The next installment, "Sophie's Run," is due out in February 2013!

When she's not rocking out to one of her favorite rock songs or writing, Nicky spends time with her husband and two boys.  She also occasionally serves as a teaching assistant.

After premiering last winter, "Sophie's Turn" returns today for an encore performance.  This time basking in the bright lights of Tinseltown and making an appearance on the Chick Lit Central network.

To learn more about Nicky, visit her at Facebook, Twitter and her website!

Thanks to Sapphire Star Publishing, we have an e-copy of "Sophie's Turn" to give away to one lucky CLC reader located anywhere in world. (And even if you don't win, it's available for the lovely price of $3.99.)

What show do you never get tired of watching reruns of?
I have a few that I could watch any time, as many times as possible. Some are current. For example, I adore The Mentalist and Castle. And some are a little older. I LOVE Magnum. Seriously, the music, the eighties clothes, cars and music, the moustache... it's just fun. Oh and -- this is very, very old-- does anyone remember Remington Steele featuring a very young and very delectable Pierce Brosnan?  **swoon**

If you could play any character on TV, from a show that is current or off the air, what character would it be?
I've been told many a times that I look like Miranda from Sex and the City, so I think I'd quite enjoy trying my hand at being her! :-)

Reality TV – Love or Hate?
Uh... may I give a qualified answer? I'm heavily addicted to The X Factor (UK and US). But celebrity-jungle-experiences, cookery shows and Big Brother... nah. HATE.

If you got the chance to meet your favorite TV star, and could only ask them one question, what question would you ask?
So, my favourite TV star of the day would be...Nathan Fillion. And my question would be: Will you write a crime romance with me? I'd really like to write a cracking crime-with-romance or romance-with-crime novel but I wouldn't have a clue where to start on the crime!

If you could create a reality TV show, what would it be about?
Hm, that's a good question. There's so much reality TV already about! How's about life-swap: rock star and opera singer change places

What TV show would you love to see made into a book?
Castle!! Please, please, please!

If Dan, rock star extraordinaire from Sophie’s Turn, were to have one of his concerts aired live on TV, where would the concert take place and why that location?
I'd have to say... Madison Square Garden, New York. Why? Because it's high time Tuscq took to the road in the United States!

What type of TV show would Sophie, from Sophie’s Turn, star in if she were to become a TV star?
**belly laughs** My goodness, what a fabulous question. Let's see, Sophie is quirky, witty, occasionally hapless but always cheerful. She has a great sense of humor, and her dress sense ranges from home-comfy to glamorous rock chick. She's already a journalist... What would she do on TV? I know! She would rope in best friend Rachel, and between them, they'd host a sitcom, a kind of crossover between Will & Grace, Friends and Sex and the City. Funny, witty, sexy, sparkling and deadly honest!

Special thanks to Nicky for sharing her fun TV memories and Sapphire Star for sharing "Sophie's Turn" with our readers.

Reality show about traveling through different cities seeing/doing the not so common sights /interests.

She really DOES look like Miranda!

There's too much bad reality tv out there! Maybe I would base mine on Sex In The City, but with real girls who have real apartments and real jobs.

I follow!

This book sounds fantastic! I'd really like to see a reality show based on REAL housewives of any county. Those 'real' housewives are a joke. I'm a stay at home mom, with my real boobs, my real @ss, my cellulite-riddled thighs and my less-than-clean one level ranch home filled with kids I adore and a husband I am lucky to have and would love to see the lives of others who are truly just like me.

A TV show where participants would try to leave exactly as people used to live in another time: Romans' time, Middle Age,... same clothes, same food, same occupations.

Hi, ladies, wow: Thank you for your interest and for entering the giveaway, Heidi, Nova, Marthalynn, DD, Susie, Catherine and Karen. Here's wishing you best of luck.

It's been an age since somebody has commented on my likeness to Miranda, thanks for noticing (it *is* my claim to fame); I used to have a much more layered, whispy hairstyle and I think the resemblance was stronger then. But when SITC was on telly all the time while I still lived in London, I used to go to the pub and people would say, ooh, look, is that her? Not kidding.

So, what you're all looking for is a reality TV show that features real people living their real lives. Very intersting, I'll get Sophie on the case! Rock on my friends and see you soon....

Hello, bn100! Some kind of travelling show, that would be interesting. Sophie would like that, too, she gets to travel quite a bit during Sophie's Turn... London (where she lives), Paris, New York, Edinburgh, Newquay, Stockholm, Munich, Berlin... Yup, I can see a travelling reality show. Thank you for your entry! :-) x

Good morning, StereoQueenBee and good morning, Bridget!

Thank you so much for your interest and for entering the give-away, and best of luck!

Yet again I hear a call for reality TV that is actually 'real', featuring real people pursuing their dreams, without shedloads of money to help them along the way. TV producers of the world, I hope you are listening! xx
