The last time I was at a farm, it was on a field trip with the kids. Other than constantly counting heads of the charges I was responsible for, I remember picking out a pumpkin to take home!

My family had the opportunity to tour a mushroom farm and it was awesome. A barn full of hanging sacks of hay, mulch and mold followed by a barn full of racks of little mold cubes with shitakes growing on them. We also toured our CSA farm a few weeks before that, and my son had the opportunity to hold the chicks and ducklings that have by now become our dinner. It's good for him to know these things, I think.

The last time I was at a farm I watched a dear friend get married! mep at nottobrag dot net
ReplyDeleteThe last time I went to a farm it was the orginal woodstock site, Yasger's farm. They had a farmer's market weekend, but I love going there!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I went to a farm I got shocked by the electric fence. This was more than 20 years ago and I thought the cows were adorable, so when my aunt went into the building to buy milk I wandered over the the cows to pet one. I didn't know it was an electric fence so I rested my head on it to reach over to the cow and BAM! Shocked lol. It wasn't very powerful, but I certainly remember it and don't remember ever going back there again.

I'd LOVE to have this book! Cool giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I was at a farm (my mom's!), I helped catch a bull that got out. No cowboys on horses there - they have a Honda ATV, and you just sort of slowly herd the bull back toward an open gate where someone is shaking a bucket of grain....He didn't really want to be out anyway (no lady cows anywhere nearby....)

I would love to win this book. It is on my To Read List. The last time I was on a farm was last Halloween. It is our family tradition to participate in the haunted hayride. At the end - we buy the best pumpkin doughnuts EVER!

Does a petting zoo count? That is as close to a farm as I have gotten in a long time. So then that you bee, getting lick on the face by a goat. Yuch!

I was just at a farm this morning! I stook my freshman college bio students to a local farm and we took a tour and I bought some locally grown buttercup squash. They loved it!
