"Mrs. Perfect" by Jane Porter:
For Taylor Young, life is very good. She has a handsome husband who loves her, three gorgeous children, a personally designed and decorated dream house. Suburbanite trendsetter and super mom—life couldn’t be more perfect. And as long as no one notices the fragile woman beneath her coifed and polished image, things will stay that way.
Then, a devastating secret bursts Taylor’s fairy-tale bubble, suddenly making her a cul-de-sac pariah, and stripping her of the role that defined her. With her struggling to maintain her alpha image, Taylor finds help from the unlikeliest of people, her nonconformist nemesis, Marta Zinsser. But to become the woman her family truly needs, Taylor must first believe in the person she is hardest on—herself. (Summary courtesy of Jane Porter's website.)
Melissa A:
This was my favorite of all Jane Porter's novels. It is a look at how the other half lives. Like "Something Blue" by Emily Giffin, it allows the reader to see someone unlikable (Taylor from "Odd Mom Out") in a new light and even sympathize with them. It also discusses an important issue that affects many families. It also has a "Desperate Housewives" feel to it, but I love that show so I'm a little biased. :)

More by Jane Porter:
This was my very first book I read of Jane Porter, and i loved it alot! I'd like to reread it for its a fun read also, I'd like a cope for my book collection of her books. This one I don't have for I got her book from a friend, and had to give it back. Jane writes from her heart about strong women and i can relate to that. All her books tell a story that any woman like myself has either been thru or can relalte to her character.

I have She's Gone Country but haven't read it yet. This sounds good too
ReplyDeleteI like what you said about seeing someone who is unlikeable in a different like. I made friends with someone in the past and it turned out even though she was constantly critisizing everyone, she was indeed, hardest on herself.
